Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Within Wells Fargo Compliance, the Enterprise Testing group is responsible for establishing and maintaining a consolidated Enterprise Testing program at the corporate level. Enterprise Testing is responsible for developing a common methodology and standards, providing governance and oversight, executing testing; and conducting horizontal reviews. Testing and validation teams are responsible for implementing the Enterprise Testing methodology and standards, and executing group-specific testing.

Conduct Risk Review (CRR) is part of the Consumer Banking and Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation Testing and Validation (CB & PVSI T&V) team which conducts review activities (monitoring and testing) across all lines of business within Community Banking; Payments, Virtual Solutions & Innovation (PVSI); and Consumer Lending (excluding Home Lending). CRR consists of a team of experienced and trusted risk professionals committed to evaluating sales and service activities to ensure trust of our team members, customers, communities and shareholders.

This Operational Risk Manager will report to the CRR Program Leader and execute the Conduct Risk Review (CRR) in-branch review activities for a designated part of the Wells Fargo retail branch network. The in-store review will consistent of a qualitative evaluation of branch sales and service activities based on interviewing team members and observing team member interactions with customers. Responsible for managing the development, implementation and monitoring of a risk-based program for a business or large functional area with moderate to high risk and complexity to identify, assess and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events. Maintains a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. May provide oversight to a comparable area. Works with and influences senior operational risk and business management to identify, formulate, and implement operational risk policies , procedures and controls for the respective business and/or functional area to mitigate risk. Provides operational risk expertise to business projects and initiatives.

Specifically the Operational Risk Manager will have responsibility for:

  • Managing a team of Conduct Risk Consultants responsible for conducting on-site store reviews
  • throughout the Wells Fargo footprint to measure compliance with sales and service conduct practices.
  • Assisting in implementing and enhancing the Store Conduct Risk Review program.
  • Developing and oversee all aspects of the review program s review procedures, scripts, protocols and
  • documentation.
  • Ensuring the review schedule is developed, maintained, and executed according to plan.
  • Overseeing Compliance Activity Reporting that is issued to the line of business and other partners.
  • Ensuring roll up reporting and escalation for senior management on results, trends, and issues identified
  • during reviews.
  • Recommending actions to reduce and manage risk and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing relationships with the Independent Risk Management, business heads, legal and audit to assist with execution of the review program.
  • Maintaining the appropriate stature and relationship with senior management to effectively facilitate
  • discussions and resolve issues.

  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • 3+ years of management experience



Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of retail banking experience
  • 3+ years of testing or quality assurance experience
  • Audit or internal controls testing experience
  • Ability to identify and evaluate trends, isolate root cause, and provide swift/thorough resolution
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

    • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)

    • Certified Risk Professional Program (CRP)


Job Expectations

Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.

IA-Des Moines: Min: $106,400 Mid: $152,000
CA-SF-Financial District: Min: $127,700 Mid: $182,400
NY-New York: Min: $127,700 Mid: $182,400
MN-Minneapolis: Min: $106,400 Mid: $152,000
NC-Charlotte: Min: $106,400 Mid: $152,000
MO-Saint Louis: Min: $106,400 Mid: $152,000
