This is a permanent, full time position based in our Greenfield, IN laboratory.

As a Flow Cytometry Staff Scientist you will serve as a corporate resource for flow cytometry and participate in Immunotoxicology EWG. You will research scientific literature and market needs and develop innovative solutions for our customers

In this position, you will:

  • Consult with clients and Covance colleagues to identify projects
  • Participate in pricing and business development discussions as needed
  • Assign associate(s) and review/modify/troubleshoot experimental plans
  • Perform quality review of experimental reports
  • Monitor work flow and staffing/training to ensure adequate progress to meet customers expectations
  • Ensure client satisfaction with reports and services
  • Verify appropriate biological controls in experimental design
  • Verify performance and training of associates conducting assigned projects.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues and report issues to manager
  • Perform quality review of study reports.
  • Network with Covance colleagues at other sites and freely share ideas for flow cytometry and immunology service development
  • Provide scientific review and opinion for Covance and client studies.
  • Represent our laboratory team and department in cross-functional Covance meetings.
  • Assess staff strengths and development needs and assign projects accordingly
  • Review staff laboratory efforts and data and provide counseling and coaching for continuous improvement and growth
  • Understand staff career goals and offer opportunities that serve business and individual needs
  • Ensure client satisfaction with communications and study reports
  • Prepare high quality scientific reports for internal and external oral presentation
  • Prepare scientific posters and manuscripts that demonstrate expertise and enhance the reputation of Covance in the scientific and client community.
  • Provide vision for long-term planning and laboratory growth
  • Read appropriate literature, consult experts in the field and research topics applicable to Covance and client needs
  • Monitor the discipline for new developments in techniques, technologies, and instruments
  • Participate in internal and external scientific seminars and training and network with external experts
  • Ensure staff compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines at all times
  • Ensure appropriate training and training records for staff
  • Manage laboratory expenditures for cost effectiveness
  • Manage work flows and assignments and ensure on-time delivery of highest quality reports
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines, Universal Precautions and Covance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
  • Complete required training and maintain training records
  • Follow established Covance operations procedures for purchasing, payroll, client interaction, etc. at all times.
