Works to ensure the smooth operation of the St. Margaret Foundation fundraising initiatives, including independent fundraising from individual, corporate, and foundation donors. The manager of development will create professional presentations, perform data analyses for hospital senior leadership and board members, and work with Foundation President, fundraising staff and volunteers to keep all essential fundraising, prospect and donor data updated and accurate. This person will suggest, initiate and execute fundraising initiatives with oversight by the Foundation president. Assemble all components of grant proposals to public and private sources.
Assists with preparing gift reports and analysis from donor database, ensures consistency with UPMC accounting records for charitable contributions when the Manager of Office systems is not available.
Assists with the gift processing and acknowledgement process when the Manager of Office Systems is not available
Communicate with Staff and Board of Directors as necessary. Interact appropriately with variety of personnel, internal & external, clients/patients, families and caregivers, agencies, physicians, hospital and foundation staff.
Develops, audience, strategy and executes a Delafield Society Program - $1,000 and up and a grateful Patient Program.
Independently meets with donors in regards to fundraising. This will include identifying potential donors from within St. Margaret Foundation's fundraising constituency, completing research profiles, assuring initial and follow-up contact to establish their interest, building a personal relationship, soliciting charitable contributions for the hospital, and appropriately stewarding donors after the gift is made.
Interacts daily at a high professional level with a diverse population of individuals including hospital and UPMC staff, board members, patients, visitors and volunteers.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of Foundation policies, procedures and services. Update policies when necessary.
Serve as an ambassador for the mission, values and goals of St. Margaret Foundation. Work to support the Foundation services and work as a whole.
Update the Development Plan for an overall strategy for development/fundraising efforts of the Foundation in cooperation with the Foundation President. This will include Board participation directed toward definition of the planning and execution of all annual appeals, events, and grant proposals This person will make suggestion on methods to change based on measured results. They will work closely with the manager of data and office systems to get reports to analyze in order to present strategies, final reports and modifications for the future. Research, explore and cultivate funding opportunities from state and federal agencies, public corporations, non-profits, and individuals when appropriate under the direction of the President.
Work independently with minimal supervision to execute the Grateful Patient Fundraising Program; Independently reviewing wealth screen data on prospective donors; rating the prospects, identifying who to visit, visiting with them independently to establish a connection, cultivating the relationship and securing donations.
Works closely with the Manager of Office Systems and the Foundation President to manage operations to ensure the smooth running of the development office.
Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, business administration, philosophy, political science, sociology, or related field required
Two years of experience in development, fundraising, and/or special event management preferred.
Experience with a fundraising database or donor software such as Advance, DonorPro, or The Raisers Edge is preferred
Experience with Quickbooks is preferred.
Experience with development and/or fundraising in a health care or community non-profit setting preferred.
Ability to manage projects from concept to completion independently required.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required.
Strong organizational and project management skills required.
Excellent time management skills, especially with respect to detail, accuracy, and pacing.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
